Winter RV Cover Buying Checklist: Shop Seasonal Sales with Confidence
A winter sale is useful only if the cover fits your RV and suits the way you store it. Before comparing discounts, make a short list of the requirements that matter to your vehicle. This checklist helps you compare covers for Class A motorhomes, Class C motorhomes, fifth wheels and travel trailers without choosing on price alone.
1. Match the cover to your RV type
A travel trailer and a Class C motorhome can have similar stated lengths but very different shapes. Start with the correct category, then compare the size chart. A larger cover from the wrong category is not a reliable substitute for the right shape.
2. Measure before selecting a size
Do not use the model name or a brochure length as your only measurement. Follow the measuring diagram on the specific product page, including its instructions for permanent accessories. Check length, width and height, and note protruding ladders, spare tires and roof equipment. For travel trailers, confirm how the chart treats the hitch rather than assuming every brand measures the same way.
If your measurement is at a listed upper limit, follow that cover's sizing guidance. Avoid buying a much larger size simply because it has a bigger discount: excess fabric can be harder to secure.
3. Plan for your storage conditions
Think about exposure to wind, rain, sun and snowfall, and how often you can visit the RV. A breathable storage cover can help protect the exterior, but it does not eliminate condensation or replace inspections. Confirm your RV manufacturer's recommendations before covering the vehicle.
A cover is not a substitute for winterizing plumbing, batteries or appliances. Follow your vehicle's owner's manual or ask a qualified RV service provider for the appropriate procedures. Winnebago's winter storage overview is a useful starting point, but your own vehicle's instructions take priority.
4. Compare practical details, not just fabric claims
- Does the selected size provide access where you need it?
- Which straps, guards and accessories are included with that exact model?
- Can you protect sharp contact points before installation?
- What care instructions and warranty terms apply?
Check the actual product listing rather than assuming every cover in a series has identical accessories. Keep your order confirmation and installation instructions together for future reference.
5. Compare the total delivered price
Choose your country or region before comparing prices. Canadian shoppers should check the CAD price, shipping, taxes and delivery estimate at checkout. Compare the final total with the same size and accessory package elsewhere, not just a headline percentage.
For seasonal offers, check the start and end dates, eligible country, eligible products and whether discounts can be combined. Current offers are shown on the relevant product page; this guide does not guarantee a particular price or promotion.
Before you check out
Save your measurements, confirm the RV category, review the selected variant and leave enough time for delivery before outdoor storage. Then use our winter cover inspection checklist to plan care after installation.
